I love socks!

It may be 98 degrees in the shade, (I kid you not), but I have become obsessed with knitting socks! I am hypnotized by self-striping yarn, watching the stripes form, wondering how in the world it even happens.

I've found my calling with #1 dpns.

I can turn a heel! I can make toes! And I can even wear my socks in about four or five months! It's all too much!

Here's the pattern I used and it's insanely easy:

  1. Those socks are gorgeous!! So soft. And I too wonder how the stripes happen! (I've watched my mom, I own a pair).
I would love to try to knit socks. I could get into something like that during winter. You say they are easy...but, I would have to follow directions, wouldn't I? Ah, I'm no good at that. I just don't get it. ;)
    I'm impressed with you, though!

    1. I think I knit them just because I like to watch the stripes happen.
Seriously, knitting patterns used to mystify me and scare me to death but once I dived in (with ALOT of help from YouTube tutorials) I figured it out! And I'm not one to follow directions either! :)

  3. gosh. i admire you....i admire *anyone who can make such simple work of knitting socks.
maybe i haven't tried hard enough....i've only knit one pair.
fingerless mitts seem to be more my calling.
but, given how you make this project seem so desirable, i may have to jump into the sock pool with you....

Try this pattern. It really was easy and she had a link to the best Kitchener Stitch method I've ever seen.
Honestly, I would never have believed knitting socks was this easy! I've already started a second pair....

  4. I bow down to your patience and perseverance. I wouldn't last 5 minutes. I have the attention span of a pea;-) Those are awesome though! Love the stripes! When you first posted the picture on Flickr I wondered how your made all the stripes happen. Self-striping yarn! Who knew?? That's a magical mystery I guess!
    Nice little hobby! Great job!
