pintopia

"Gone are the days we stopped to decide where we should go, we just ride."

We ride past the decaying trading post, the wild ponies, and the asphalt roads.
Tires crunch over the tumbleweeds.
We ride till we reach the end of the mesa.
Sagebrush, sunlight, stardust.
Pinon and juniper.
The bones of the earth.
Pintopia.

  2. All are great photos, but I especially like the horse photos and the first one is a magnificent capture of these noble beasts.

  3. oh, these photos are just delightful!! abandoned buildings always make me want to explore them, to imagine the life and activity that they once contained. the horses!! they look so content, as well as curious. and your light-drenched plant life-- what is it about capturing living things in beautiful light that holds us spellbound as we look upon them? this is a joyful post, free spirited and wandering... i love your pintopia!

    1. We've done a little exploring in the old trading post over the years but now it's too unsafe to go inside. It's sad to see a piece of history like that just decay and fall apart, but I am glad I have been able to photograph it over the years. It's been a landmark to us forever! And the light.....it's absolutely magical this time of year. :) These places, these adventures, they're so good for the soul! xx

  6. That's what I want to do, too. Can I go??
I'd like to see those Mesa ponies, gold piñon dust... And ride, & ride & ride, over the bones of the earth!
I really do love the look of that land, the way those ponies look at you. :)

  7. I try to imagine where all of the people went that used to occupy that store. Was this an entire town that was abandoned? We visited Chincoteague, VA years ago and were able to see the wild horses that roam there. They are just so beautiful. I wasn't into photography at the time, unfortunately. Now I would have a field day taking photos!! : ) xoxo

    1. No town associated with the old trading post....it's on the Navajo reservation. A bigger trading post was built nearby a while back and this one was left to Nature.
And wild horses....they are something to see, aren't they? If only we could all be so free!
