spent the night in utah...

...in a cave up in the hills.
This wild and rugged country abounds with secret places and undiscovered treasures. Accompanied by my loyal and faithful companions, we explore every corner of this magical landscape.

my heart takes me home

And just like that, I find myself back in that crazy place of heat and sun and thundering storms, that place of endless mystery and hard beauty. That place I feel more connected to than any place I've ever been. That place that tests me and rewards me.
I learn the secrets behind every rock, in every cave. I wander the rim of the mesa. I travel to the end of every dirt road.
It's something I don't question, I just accept. It's where my heart is, it's where I will always return, and it's where a part of me never leaves.
I'd say I'm the lucky one in this relationship. Oh yeah.

wapiti

wapiti:
Species (Cervus canadensis) of North American deer, often considered the same species as the red deer. Once common, the wapiti is now confined to the Rocky Mountains and southern Canada.

We stopped at the edge of the meadow to photograph these amazing animals....Colorado Rocky Mountain elk....in all their glory. They didn't seem to mind at all. In fact, I believe the bull showed off just a little for us.

ten thousand feet

Is there anything more perfect, more absolutely awe-inspiring than being at ten thousand feet? All I need is a beautiful day, a golden trail to walk, and I am ready to leave a little piece of my soul right there among the aspens.

weathering the storm

The early morning rain that fell as I left New Mexico turned to hail as I arrived in Colorado. The change in the weather was exhilarating, becoming both a baptism and celebration. The changing season, the changing landscape, the changing light welcomed me home.
The cabin awaited my arrival, my mesa called to me from the west. I would sleep in the stars, walk with the spirits.
I've weathered alot of storms lately, and I know more are to come. I have chosen Nature as my guide, my mentor. I'll come through the other side of these storms one day, walking with the rain and the wind, whispering the secrets of the earth.
