any better than this

These are the simple things that make our lives so good.
Dogs.
Water in the high desert.
A sunny fall day.
The smell of cedar, pinon, and sage.
A high, wild, and lonely mesa.
An endless blue sky, stretching out along the road that brings us to the place we love.
It doesn't get any better than this.

  1. Beautiful photos. A happy heart song seeing happy dogs. Such red dirt.

    1. Thanks, Mary Lou. The dogs, as well as their humans, love this place. Glad it made you smile.

  2. "A high, wild, and lonely mesa." These words leap into my restless feet. I could wander this land for days with only water (and chocolate, my dog, coffee and my camera; haha.) How lucky to have these water filled (sandstone?) pockets for happy dog friends. That dirt. I love how my feet look after walking in it. Stay wild, my friend.

    1. If only I could wander these mesas forever....this is life. Good to hear from you, sister. Sink your toes into that Arizona sand and connect with that amazing EARTH.

  3. There's that long, red dirt road. I wonder if a cabin awaits you at the end of it?
The sky and piñon and sage, and the sound of nothing. That's all I would want. And it looks like that's what you've found.
Hold some of that dirt in your hands and bundle some sweet sage. Walk the land and be free.
    Yep, I see you smile!

    1. Smiling all the way down that road! Wishing the same to you, prairiegirl....sunshine, solitude, and serenity.

  4. Just lovely Julie.
Is this similar country to where the Lone Ranger was set? It feels similar. I just watched the new Lone Ranger movie on the plane ride over to Perth. Loved it :) Can just imagine him and Tonto riding into sight....

    1. Thanks! Yes, it is pretty similar to the country where the Lone Ranger was filmed. It kind of feels like the classic "cowboy and indian" old west!
